Neon's SCP Foundation film (untitled)

Status
Announced

What we know

  • The plan: Neon announced on October 1, 2026 that it will develop and produce an anthology horror film based on the SCP Foundation, aiming for theaters in 2027. The title has not been announced.
  • Emerging filmmakers: Neon says the project will focus on emerging filmmakers, so expect segments from newer directors rather than big names.
  • The license: Neon says it will release the film and related material under CC BY-SA, the same license the SCP Wiki uses. In practice, Neon will not own the film’s SCP material exclusively, and others can build on it.
  • The SCP Wiki: Neon contacted the Wiki’s staff before announcing. The staff say the film complies with the license “in both letter and spirit” and that they gave licensing help and basic advice, as they do for any outside project. They also say it is not an “official” SCP Foundation film: staff are not involved in writing or producing it, and no staff member earns money from it.

Why it stands out

The announcement came about two weeks after V/H/S: SCP, which the SCP Wiki said it had not been consulted about. Neon answered that criticism head-on by committing, in public, to the license the SCP stories are written under.

Still unknown

Title, directors, cast, which SCPs appear and a release date.
